This township is found in the eastern part of Mackinac County. It stretches from the border of Chippewa County in the north down to the city of St. Ignace in the south. Part of the township also reaches into Lake Huron.
A major highway, Interstate 75, runs through the township from north to south. You can get onto or off this highway at three different exits within the township.

The U.S. Census Bureau tells us that the total area of the township is about 142 square miles (368 square kilometers). Out of this, about 97 square miles (252 square kilometers) is land. The rest, about 45 square miles (116 square kilometers), is water, which is about 31% of its total area.
Small Communities in the Township
- Charles was once a small settlement. It grew around a mill owned by the Sterling Lumber Company. It even had its own post office starting in 1905.
- Evergreen Shores is a small, unofficial community. It is located on the shores of Lake Huron. You can find it about two miles north of St. Ignace.

Getting Around St. Ignace Township
Interstate 75 is a big highway that goes through the township. There are two exits for St. Ignace on this highway. Another important road is Mackinac Trail, also known as H-63.
The starting point of M-134 is in the township. Also, the southern end of M-123 is located here. These roads help people travel throughout the area.
