Stansstad is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the canton of Nidwalden in Switzerland. It's a beautiful place known for its connection to Lake Lucerne.

Stansstad covers an area of about 17.11 square kilometers. A large part of this land is covered by forests, about 49.6%. About 32.6% of the land is used for farming, like fields and orchards. The town itself, with its buildings and roads, takes up about 15.4% of the area. A small part, 2.4%, is unproductive land, meaning it's not used for anything.
Over the years, the amount of land covered by buildings has grown. Also, a small area of the municipality, about 0.99%, is used for fun activities and recreation. Rivers and lakes make up about 9 hectares of the municipality's area.
People in Stansstad

- Bus: There are post bus services that connect Stansstad to nearby places like Bürgenstock, Stans, and Büren.
- Boat: You can also travel by boat on Lake Lucerne with services from the Schifffahrtsgesellschaft des Vierwaldstättersees.
There used to be a special type of railway called a funicular called Fürigenbahn. It went from Harissenbucht up to a hotel in Fürigen, but it stopped running in 2005.

Stansstad has some interesting places to visit:
- A museum about old fortifications (defensive structures).
- A tower called Schnitzturm.
- The chapel Marie Linden in Kehrsiten.
Important Heritage Sites
Some places in Stansstad are so important that they are listed as Swiss heritage sites of national significance. These include:
- An ancient lakeside settlement at Kehrsiten. This settlement is also part of the Prehistoric Pile dwellings around the Alps, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This means it's recognized as a very important historical place for the whole world!
- The Teller/Palisaden and Schnitzturm, which are parts of the old medieval fortifications.
