Steven Douglas Brown, born on March 20, 1960, is a former American football player and coach. He played as a cornerback in the NFL and later coached many teams. Most recently, he was a coach for the Michigan Panthers. Brown played his whole professional career with the Houston Oilers from 1983 to 1990. He also played college football at the University of Oregon.

Early Life and High School
Steven Brown grew up in Sacramento, California. He finished high school at C. K. McClatchy High School in 1978.
College Football Career
Brown played as a defensive back and kick returner for the University of Oregon's Ducks football team. He played for four seasons, from 1979 to 1982. His coach during this time was Rich Brooks.
In 1983, Brown earned a degree in English literature. He was also a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. During his college career, he returned 78 kickoffs for a total of 1,868 yards, scoring one touchdown. He also returned 18 punts for 185 yards and one touchdown. As a defensive player, he made 8 interceptions, returning them for 139 yards and one touchdown.
Professional Playing Career
From 1983 to 1990, Steven Brown played as a left cornerback for the Houston Oilers. During his time with the Oilers, he made 18 interceptions, which he returned for 264 yards, scoring one touchdown. He also had 5 sacks.
Brown also served as a kick returner for the Oilers from 1983 to 1985. In this role, he had 36 returns for a total of 857 yards, including one touchdown.

St. Louis Rams
In 1995, Brown joined the St. Louis Rams as a defensive assistant coach. He worked under his former college coach, Rich Brooks. In 1996 and 1997, he became the coach for the team's cornerbacks. From 1998 to 2000, he coached the entire defensive backs group. During this time, the Rams won Super Bowl XXXIV in 1999! He coached many talented players, including Dre' Bly and Todd Lyght.
University of Kentucky
In 2003, Brown moved to college football, joining the staff at the University of Kentucky. He started as the defensive backs coach and held this position until 2006. In 2007, he was promoted to defensive coordinator. He helped the Kentucky teams win three bowl games in a row: the 2006 Music City Bowl, the 2007 Music City Bowl, and the 2009 Liberty Bowl.
Tennessee Titans
From 2012 to 2015, Brown worked as an assistant secondary coach for the Tennessee Titans.
East Tennessee State
After a short break, he returned to coaching in 2018 at East Tennessee State University (ETSU). He coached the defensive backs there.
Michigan Panthers
In 2023, Brown became the defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach for the Michigan Panthers in the USFL.
Personal Life
Steven Brown is the older brother of actress Olivia Brown. Olivia is known for her role in the popular 1980s TV show, Miami Vice.
