Steve Hickner is an American animator and director. He works at DreamWorks Animation, a famous studio that makes animated movies. He is well-known for directing popular DreamWorks films like The Prince of Egypt and Bee Movie. For his work on The Prince of Egypt, he won the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Animated Feature. He was also nominated for the Satellite Award for Best Animated or Mixed Media Feature.

Early Life of Steve Hickner
Steve Hickner became interested in animation thanks to his high school English teacher. This teacher suggested he could have a career in the animation world. This idea made him want to create his own animated film after school. Steve said this first film was "terrible" because he didn't know much about animation yet.
At first, he wanted to be a cartoonist, someone who draws cartoons. But later, he decided to become an animator instead. Steve looked up to famous animators like Walt Disney and the Warner Brothers studio. After high school, he went to New York University's Film school. There, he studied Film Production.
Steve Hickner's Career in Animation
While still in school, Steve Hickner got a job with a person named Kay Wright. He has now worked for over 35 years in the animation industry. He has been part of many big studios. These include DreamWorks, Disney, Amblimation, Aardman, Hanna-Barbera, and Filmation.
Steve has helped produce several movies. These include An American Tail: Fievel Goes West, We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story, and Balto. He also directed the movies Bee Movie and The Prince of Egypt.
He has also worked on many other well-known films. Some of these are Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Little Mermaid, The Great Mouse Detective, Madagascar, Shrek Forever After, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, and Home.
Steve has also worked on special entertainment projects in different places around the world. These include Singapore, Dubai, China, London, and Hollywood. He often speaks at colleges, film festivals, and animation events. Steve has also written two books: Animation Rules! 52 Ways to Achieve Creative Success and Animating Your Career.
