The Village Church
The church in Stoke Lacy is called St Peter and St Paul. It dates back to the time of the Normans. People believe it might have been built on an even older site from Celtic or Saxon times.
The church you see today was mostly rebuilt in Victorian times. In 1863, an architect named F. R. Kempson worked on it. He was the son of a previous church leader. He updated and changed the church, but kept an old Norman arch.
The Kempson family were ancestors of the famous Redgrave acting family. The church also has special stained glass windows. These windows honor the wealthy Morgan family. Their graves are in the churchyard.
