Super Mario Bros. 2 is a popular video game in the Mario series. It's known for being a bit unique because there are actually two different games with this name!
The game known as Super Mario Bros. 2 in North America and Europe was originally a different game in Japan called Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic. The creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, thought the original Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 (which is now called Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels) was too difficult for players outside Japan. So, he decided to change Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic by replacing its characters with Mario characters like Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad. This made the game very different from other Mario adventures.
How to Play
In Super Mario Bros. 2, you can choose to play as one of four characters: Toad, Luigi, Mario, or Princess Peach. Each character has special abilities that help them in different ways:
- Luigi can jump higher than anyone else.
- Princess Peach can float in the air for a short time after jumping.
- Toad is super fast at pulling items out of the ground.
- Mario has balanced abilities, meaning he's good at everything but not the best at one specific thing.
You get to pick your character at the start of each new level.
Unlike most Mario games where you jump on enemies, in Super Mario Bros. 2, you can pick up vegetables from the ground and even some enemies! You can then throw these items at other enemies to defeat them. This unique way of playing makes the game stand out from other Mario titles.
