Princess Peach facts for kids
Princess Peach Toadstool, often called Peach, is a very famous character from the Mario video game series. She is the kind princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, a magical place where most of the Mario games happen. In many games, she gets kidnapped by the big, spiky monster, King Bowser. Then, it's usually up to Mario to rescue her!
Peach's Look and Name
Princess Peach's appearance has changed a bit over the years. When she first appeared in Super Mario Bros. in 1985, she had red hair and a white dress. Her hair was dark red in Super Mario Bros. 2 (1986). In Super Mario World (1991), her look changed to the yellow hair we know today.
When Peach plays sports in the Mario sports games, she wears different outfits. This is because her normal, long, pink dress isn't very good for playing sports!
Her name has also changed over time. In Japan, her name has always been Peach. But when Super Mario Bros. was sold in other countries, she was called Princess Toadstool. Later, in Super Mario 64, her name became Princess Peach Toadstool.
Peach's Role in Games
Most of the time, Peach is known as the "damsel-in-distress." This means she is often in danger and needs to be rescued, usually by Mario. Bowser is almost always the one who kidnaps her.
However, in the game Super Princess Peach (2006), things are different! In this game, Bowser kidnaps Mario instead. It's up to Princess Peach to save him!
Two different actresses have given Peach her voice. The first was Leslie Swan, and the second is Jen Taylor.
