Susan Lynn "Suze" Orman (born June 5, 1951) is an American expert on money and finances. She is known for helping people understand how to manage their money better. Suze Orman has written many popular books about personal finance. She also hosted a famous TV show called The Suze Orman Show on CNBC from 2002 to 2015.

Suze Orman has won several awards for her work. She has been named one of the most influential people by Time magazine twice. She also hosts a podcast called Suze Orman's Women & Money Podcast.

Early Life and Education

Suze Orman was born in Chicago, Illinois, on June 5, 1951. Her parents were Ann and Morry Orman. Her father worked in a chicken factory and ran a deli.

Suze went to the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. She studied social work and earned her degree in 1976. Later, she received special honorary degrees from the University of Illinois and Bentley University. These degrees recognized her important work.

Suze Orman's Career Journey

After college, Suze Orman moved to California and worked as a waitress. In 1980, she borrowed $52,000 from friends to open her own restaurant. She invested this money with a financial company. Sadly, she lost all her money because of a risky investment.

This experience taught her a lot about money and investing. She decided to learn more about finance herself. Suze then trained to become a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch. She learned that the investment her first advisor chose was too risky for her.
