Swathi Reddy (born 19 April 1987) is an Indian actress and TV presenter. She is well-known for her work in Telugu films, but she has also acted in Tamil and Malayalam movies. People often call her Colours Swathi. This nickname came from a popular Telugu TV show called Colours, which she hosted on Maa TV.
Swathi started her acting career with smaller roles. She then became a main actress in the Tamil film Subramaniapuram (2008). Her role in the Telugu movie Ashta Chamma (2008) was a big success. For this film, she won the Filmfare Award and the Nandi Award for Best Actress. Besides acting, she also lends her voice for characters in films (called a dubbing artist) and sings songs for movies (a playback singer). Some of her other popular films include Swamy Ra Ra (2013) and Karthikeya (2014).

Early Life and School
Swathi Reddy was born in Vladivostok, a city in the far east of Russia. At the time, it was part of the Soviet Union. Her father was an officer in the Indian Navy. He was training to be a submariner in the Soviet Union when Swathi was born. The Russian doctor who helped deliver her named her ‘Svetlana’. Later, her mother changed her name to 'Swathi'. She has an older brother named Siddharth.
Swathi's family later moved to Mumbai and then to Visakhapatnam in India. She spent most of her childhood there. She went to St. Francis De Sales’ School in Visakhapatnam. When she was in 11th grade, her family moved to Hyderabad. She then studied Biotechnology at St. Mary's College, Hyderabad.
After taking her college entrance exams, Swathi started working in television when she was 17. She hosted a show called Colours. The show was very popular, so it was extended and moved to a better time slot. She ended up hosting more than 150 episodes!
Her Career in Entertainment
Acting in Films
After her first year of college, Swathi got an offer to act in her first film, Danger (2005). She was one of the five main actors in this movie. The film received good reviews.
After her second year of college, she played a supporting role in Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule (2007). Her performance in this film was well-received.
Once she finished college, she signed up for two more films. In 2008, she played the main female role in her first Tamil film, Subramaniapuram. That same year, her role in Ashta Chamma (2008) earned her two big awards: the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu and the Nandi Award for Best Actress. In 2013, she made her debut in Malayalam cinema with the movie Amen, which was a super hit.

Swathi Reddy also works as a dubbing artist and a playback singer. A dubbing artist is someone who provides the voice for another actor or character in a film. In 2008, she dubbed for actress Ileana in the film Jalsa.
A playback singer is someone who sings songs that are used in movies, but the actors on screen usually just lip-sync to their voices. In 2011, Swathi became a playback singer. She sang two songs: "Unbelievable" for her own film Katha Screenplay Darsakatvam Appalaraju (2011) and "A Square B Square" for 100% Love (2011).
She also helped with an animated software tutorial in 2010. This tutorial was created by a group called TeachAids to teach people about HIV/AIDS. Swathi also appeared in an advertisement for "Cadbury's Dairy Milk" chocolate.
Personal Life
Swathi Reddy married her boyfriend, Vikas Vasu, on August 30, 2018. Vikas is a pilot from Kerala, India.
