Swathi Reddy (born on April 19, 1987) is a talented Indian actress and television presenter. She is well-known for her work in Telugu films, but she has also acted in Tamil and Malayalam movies. Swathi has appeared in more than 29 films!
Her popular nickname, Colours Swathi, came from a Telugu TV show called Colours. This show was shown on Maa TV and helped her become famous.
After starting with smaller roles, she got her first main acting part in the Tamil film Subramaniapuram in 2008. That same year, her role in the Telugu film Ashta Chamma earned her two big awards: the Filmfare Award and the Nandi Award for Best Actress. Besides acting, she has also worked as a voice actor and a playback singer for some movies. Some of her other popular films include Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule (2007), Swamy Ra Ra (2013), Amen (2013), and Karthikeya (2014).

Early Life and Education
Swathi Reddy was born in Vladivostok, a city in the far east of Russia. At the time, it was part of the Soviet Union. Her father was an officer in the Indian Navy. He was training to be a submariner in the Soviet Union when Swathi was born.
The Russian doctor who helped deliver her named her ‘Svetlana’. Later, her mother changed her name to 'Swathi'. She has an older brother named Siddharth.
Moving and School
Swathi's family moved around quite a bit. First, they moved to Mumbai, and then to Visakhapatnam. She spent most of her childhood in Visakhapatnam and went to St. Francis De Sales’ School there.
When she was in 11th grade, her family moved to Hyderabad. She then went to St. Mary's College, Hyderabad and studied Biotechnology.
Starting in Television
After taking her college entrance exam, Swathi started working in television at just 17 years old. She hosted a show called Colours. People really liked the show, so it was made longer and moved to a popular evening time slot. She ended up hosting more than 150 episodes of the show!

Acting Journey
After her first year of college, Swathi got an offer to act in her first film, Danger (2005). She was one of five main actors in the movie. The film received good reviews.
After her second year of college, she took on a supporting role in Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule (2007). Her performance in this film was highly praised.
Once she finished college, she signed up for two more films. In 2008, she played the main female role in her first Tamil film, Subramaniapuram. Her role in Ashta Chamma (2008) brought her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu and the Nandi Award for Best Actress. She also made her debut in Malayalam cinema with Amen (2013), which was a big success.
Other Talents
Swathi Reddy has also used her voice in other ways. She has worked as a dubbing artist and a playback singer.
- Voice Acting: In 2008, she provided the voice for actress Ileana in the film Jalsa (2008). In 2010, she lent her voice to an animated tutorial for HIV/AIDS education. This was created by a group called TeachAids.
- Singing: In 2011, she became a playback singer. She sang two songs, "Unbelievable" and "A Square B Square," for the movies Katha Screenplay Darsakatvam Appalaraju (2011) and 100% Love (2011).
- Advertisements: She has also appeared in an advertisement for "Cadbury's Dairy Milk" chocolate.
Personal Life
Swathi Reddy married her boyfriend, Vikas Vasu, on August 30, 2018. Vikas is a pilot from Kerala, India.
