The Tassimo Hot Beverage System is a cool machine that makes single cups of hot drinks. It can make espresso, regular coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and even milky drinks like lattes and cappuccinos. Different companies own the Tassimo brand around the world. JDE Peet's owns it in most places, and Kraft Heinz owns it in North America.

How Tassimo Started

Tassimo first came out in France in 2004. Today, you can find Tassimo machines and drinks in many countries. These include Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States.

The first Tassimo machines were created by a company called Kraft Foods. The first machines were made by Saeco and sold by Braun. In 2008, a new type of Tassimo machine began to be made by Bosch.

What Are T-Discs?

The Tassimo system uses special plastic pods called T-Discs. You can only use each T-Disc once. These T-Discs are made and sold by JDE Peet's.

Each T-Disc has a special bar code on top. This barcode tells the Tassimo machine exactly how to make your drink. It tells the machine the right water temperature and how much water to use. It also sets the brewing time and how strong the drink should be.

This smart system lets Tassimo make many different hot drinks. It can brew filtered coffee, cappuccino, espresso, tea, and hot chocolate. The brewing process is super fast, usually taking only 30 to 60 seconds. Some T-Discs used to contain UHT milk for milky drinks.

Brands of T-Discs

Tassimo T-Discs are sold under many different brand names. These brands are owned by JDE Peet's or Kraft Foods. Some popular brands include Gevalia, Maxwell House, and Jacobs.

Not all brands are available in every country. For example, Nabob T-Discs are mostly found in Canada. In the United Kingdom, you can find T-Discs with the Costa Coffee brand. In Canada, Tassimo also partners with coffee shops like Tim Hortons and McCafé.

Tassimo Machines Today

Tassimo offers several models of coffee makers for homes. These machines work with the "home-use" T-Discs. While they might look different or have different features, they all make the same great drinks from the same T-Discs.

There is also a special Tassimo Professional model. This machine is made for offices and businesses. T-Discs for the Professional model cannot be used in home Tassimo machines.

Important Safety Information

In 2012, some Tassimo coffee makers were recalled. This happened because there were reports of hot liquid, coffee grounds, or tea leaves spraying out. This could cause minor burns.

To fix this, customers received a free part to add to their coffee maker. This new part helped prevent spraying if a T-Disc burst. It was important for customers to follow the instructions to install the part safely.
