Tassimo's Story
Tassimo first started in France in 2004. Over time, it became available in many other countries. These include Germany, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
The first Tassimo machines were created by a company called Kraft Foods. The early machines were made by Saeco and sold by Braun. Later, in 2008, a new company, Bosch, started making the Tassimo machines.
How T-Discs Work
Tassimo machines use special plastic containers called T-Discs. Each T-Disc makes one serving of a drink.
Each T-Disc has a special bar code on top. When you put the T-Disc into the machine, the machine reads this code. The code tells the machine exactly how to make the drink. It sets the right water temperature and how much water to use. It also controls how long the drink brews.
This smart system lets Tassimo make many different hot drinks. It can brew coffee, espresso, tea, and hot chocolate. Making a drink usually takes less than a minute. Some T-Discs used to contain real UHT milk for creamy drinks.
Many well-known brands offer their drinks as Tassimo T-Discs. These include Gevalia, Maxwell House, and Jacobs. In some countries, Tassimo partners with local coffee shops. For example, in the UK, you can find Costa Coffee T-Discs. In Canada, you can get T-Discs from Tim Hortons and McCafé.
Tassimo Machines Today
Tassimo offers several models of machines for home use. Some popular models include the T12, T47+, and T55+. While they might look a bit different or have extra features, they all make the same great drinks from the T-Discs.
There is also a special Tassimo Professional model. This machine is made for offices and businesses. The T-Discs for the professional model are different and cannot be used in home machines.
Important Safety Information
In 2012, some Tassimo coffee makers were recalled. This happened because there were reports of hot liquid or coffee grounds spraying out. To fix this, customers received a free part to add to their machines. This new part helped prevent any spraying if a T-Disc had a problem.
