Tebucky Shermain Jones (born October 6, 1974) is a former American football player. He played as a safety for nine seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Tebucky was chosen by the New England Patriots in the first round of the 1998 NFL draft after playing college football at Syracuse University. He won Super Bowl XXXVI with the Patriots. He also played for the New Orleans Saints and the Miami Dolphins.

Playing in the NFL

Tebucky Jones was a talented player who made a big impact in the NFL. He was known for his speed and ability to make important plays.

New England Patriots Years

The New England Patriots picked Tebucky Jones as the 22nd player overall in the 1998 NFL draft. He signed a five-year contract with the team.

One of his most famous moments happened during Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002. The Patriots were playing against the St. Louis Rams. In the fourth quarter, the Rams' quarterback, Kurt Warner, fumbled the ball near the goal line. Tebucky Jones picked it up and ran almost the entire length of the field for what looked like a touchdown! However, the play was called back because of a penalty on one of his teammates. Even though it didn't count, it showed how fast and aware he was on the field.

During his first time with the Patriots, Tebucky played in 72 games. He started 36 of those games. He made 224 tackles and caught 4 interceptions.

Playing for Other Teams

After his time with the Patriots, Tebucky Jones was traded to the New Orleans Saints in 2003. He played and started in 31 games for the Saints. During this time, he made 172 tackles and had 2 interceptions. He left the Saints in 2005.

He then signed a two-year deal with the Miami Dolphins in March 2005. He played in 6 games for the Dolphins, starting all of them, and made 39 tackles. He was released by the Dolphins in March 2006.

Tebucky Jones returned to the New England Patriots for a short time in 2006. However, he was placed on injured reserve due to a leg injury and was released in 2007.

Life After Football

After his NFL career, Tebucky Jones became a football coach. He was the head coach for the New Britain Golden Hurricanes high school team in New Britain, Connecticut until 2020.

Tebucky also has a son named Tebucky Jones Jr. His son played college football at the University of Connecticut and Fordham University. He was briefly with the Tennessee Titans in the NFL before the regular season started.
