Tebucky Shermain Jones, born on October 6, 1974, is a former American football player. He played as a safety in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons. He is best known for his time with the New England Patriots, where he helped them win Super Bowl XXXVI. He also played for the New Orleans Saints and the Miami Dolphins.

Playing in the NFL

Tebucky Jones was a talented player who joined the NFL after playing college football at Syracuse University. He was chosen in the first round of the 1998 NFL draft, which means he was one of the top players picked that year.

New England Patriots Years

The New England Patriots picked Tebucky Jones as the 22nd player overall in the 1998 NFL draft. He signed a five-year contract with the team.

He is most famous for his part in the 2001 Patriots team that won Super Bowl XXXVI. In that championship game, during the fourth quarter, the opposing team, the St. Louis Rams, were trying hard to score. The Rams' quarterback, Kurt Warner, fumbled the ball near the goal line. Tebucky Jones quickly picked it up and ran almost the entire length of the field! It would have been a 97-yard touchdown, but a penalty on another Patriots player meant the play didn't count. Even without that touchdown, the Patriots still won the Super Bowl!

Tebucky Jones played 72 games for the Patriots. He started 36 of those games. During his time with the team, he made 224 tackles and caught 4 interceptions.

Time with the New Orleans Saints

In 2003, Tebucky Jones was traded to the New Orleans Saints. He played and started 31 games for the Saints. He made 172 tackles and caught 2 interceptions during his time there. He left the Saints in 2005.

Playing for the Miami Dolphins

After leaving the Saints, Tebucky Jones signed a two-year deal with the Miami Dolphins in 2005. He played in 6 games for the Dolphins, starting all of them. He made 39 tackles before an injury ended his season early. He was released by the Dolphins in 2006.

Back with the New England Patriots

In 2006, Tebucky Jones signed with the New England Patriots again. However, he was placed on injured reserve early in the season because of a leg injury. This meant he couldn't play that year. He was released by the Patriots in 2007.

Later, in 2007, he tried out for the Oakland Raiders. Unfortunately, his knee was too injured, and he was not able to join the team.
