The Story of Tensed's Name
Tensed was not always called Tensed. Its first name was Desmet. This name honored Pierre-Jean De Smet, a Jesuit missionary from Belgium. He worked closely with the Coeur d'Alene nation.
However, the post office asked for a name change. This was because another nearby town, De Smet, already had that name. So, the name was reversed to Temsed. But then, the post office accidentally misspelled it, and that's how it became Tensed!
