Terrytown is a community located in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, USA. It is on the "Westbank" of the Mississippi River, which means it's south of the river. Terrytown is a suburb that is part of the larger New Orleans area.
In 2020, about 25,278 people lived in Terrytown. The community officially opened on March 6, 1960. It was founded by a land developer named Paul Kapelow. He named the town after his first daughter, Terry Kapelow. Terrytown is also home to Oakwood Center, a big shopping mall in the New Orleans area.
