What is The Cramp Twins About?
The series follows the adventures of two brothers, Wayne Cramp (voiced by Tom Kenny) and Lucien Cramp (voiced by Kath Soucie). They are non-identical twins who live in a made-up place called Soap City. Their mom, Dorothy (voiced by Nicole Oliver), is super clean and hates germs. Their dad, Horace (voiced by Ian James Corlett), loves everything about cowboys.
Wayne and Lucien are very different and often argue. Wayne's friend is Dirty Joe (voiced by Lee Tockar), who owns a junkyard. Their neighbor, Wendy Winkle (voiced by Jayne Peterson), likes Wayne, but he doesn't like her back. Miss Hillary Hissy (voiced by Cathy Weseluck) is their teacher. Lucien's friends are Tony Parsons (voiced by Terry Klassen), who cares a lot about nature, and Mari Phelps (voiced by Tabitha St. Germain).
There were two seasons of The Cramp Twins made. In the United States, the first season was shown as two separate parts. It aired much later there than in the UK. Most episodes were shown 2-3 years earlier in the UK.
Meet the Characters!
Main Characters
- Wayne Cramp (voiced by Tom Kenny) is the younger twin, but he's taller than Lucien. Wayne is full of energy, a bit bossy, and not as smart as his brother. He's also the class bully and most kids are scared of him. Wayne loves collecting junk and hides it in his room. He spends a lot of time at the junkyard with his only friend, Dirty Joe. Unlike Lucien, Wayne is terrified of the swamp and frogs. He loves sugary treats, which give him energy. If he doesn't get sugar, he gets tired and talks nonsense. He also likes fast food. Sometimes, Wayne shows he's good at building things, like turning his bed into a race car or a trampoline. He even built an Egyptian-style temple from junk! He can also be kind, like when he made an imaginary brother from an old arcade board.
- Lucien Cramp (voiced by Kath Soucie) is Wayne's older twin brother. He's the smarter one and cares a lot about the environment. Wayne often calls him "Girl Pants" and bullies him. Lucien loves science and nature, and he's a vegetarian. He really wants a pet, but his mom's strict cleaning rules won't let him have one. So, Lucien secretly keeps a worm farm under his bed! Only Tony, Mari, Wayne, and Wendy know about it. Lucien is afraid of clowns. He's good at knitting and likes playing the harp. Lucien enjoys going to Soap City's swamp, where Tony lives. This is the only place he gets peace from Wayne. Lucien often tries to get people to care about the environment. But most people in Soap City don't like nature, so his efforts are usually ignored or made fun of. He has a crush on Tony's mom in one episode.
- Dorothy Cramp (voiced by Nicole Oliver) is the twins' mom and Horace's wife. She has yellow skin, a short temper, and is very strict. She's a total germaphobe and loves everything to be super clean. Her obsession with cleanliness often leads to funny situations. Once, she kicked her family out of the house because of Wayne's junk, Lucien's mud, and Horace's cowboy picture. She likes to mix her own cleaning products to find the strongest germ-killer. Horace calls this "The Cleanies," and it happens sometimes, making everyone hide! She likes Agent X, who is also a clean freak.
- Horace Cramp (voiced by Ian James Corlett) is the twins' dad and Dorothy's husband. He has green skin and is a bit silly. He works at the local soap factory. He's also a big fan of cowboys and loves anything related to the Wild West, especially a cowgirl named Rodeo Rita. His wife doesn't like this. He always tries to impress his boss, Mr. Winkle, but he's not very good at his job. His mother-in-law doesn't like him.
- Tony Parsons (voiced by Terry Klassen) is Lucien's best friend, though they sometimes argue. He lives in the swamp and knows a lot about it and its people. He has many brothers and sisters. Tony is very short, which sometimes makes things like riding a bike hard. But he uses special gear, like a flag on his helmet, so people can see him. Tony's height doesn't bother him. He and Mari are Lucien's only friends. Tony often believes in magic and aliens, and Lucien tries to explain things with science, but Tony is often right!
- Wendy Winkle (voiced by Jayne Paterson) is the only daughter of Walter Winkle. Wendy is cheerful but very spoiled. She clearly likes Wayne and tries everything to get him to like her back, but it never works. She's very rich and usually gets her way, often bullying others. Sometimes she seems to like Lucien too, but she always changes her mind quickly.
- Mari Phelps (voiced by Tabitha St. Germain) is Lucien's other friend. She often helps Lucien with his environmental projects. She is a foster child and lives with a family who are obsessed with happiness and have strange customs. Mari feels like the odd one out in her foster family and is often embarrassed by them. Lucien once had a small crush on Mari, but they remained good friends.
Other Characters
- Dirty Joe Muldoon (voiced by Lee Tockar): Wayne's best and only friend. He's a bit silly and owns the local junkyard. You usually only see his hand or part of his clothes. He had never showered until he stayed with the Cramps!
- Walter Winkle (voiced by Colin Murdock): Mr. Cramp's boss and Wendy's dad. He owns the soap factory. He's not very nice and pretty much runs the town, as many people work for him. It's hinted that he might be from the swamp, like Tony's family.
- Hillary Hissy (voiced by Cathy Weseluck): Miss Hissy is the big teacher for Wayne, Lucien, Wendy, and Mari. She doesn't like kids and is friends with Dirty Joe. She was once thought to be dating him, but she was just tutoring him. Miss Hissy also likes Horace Cramp and Mr. Winkle. She's not very likable and often bullies her students. Her favorite saying is "tout de suite." She's a karate expert and uses a stick with bottle caps to make students behave.
- Seth Parsons (voiced by Terry Klassen): Tony's dad and a swamp person. He and his family live near the swamp. His wife is Lily. When he was a kid, he was very short and looked like Tony.
- Mr. Pretty (voiced by Jay Brazeau): The very cheerful principal of the school, introduced in season two. His methods sometimes annoy the Cramps. He often blames Miss Hissy for his own mistakes.
- Lillian "Lilly" Parsons (voiced by Pauline Newstone): Seth's wife and Tony's mom. Lucien once had a crush on her, which annoyed Tony.
- Mrs. Phelps (voiced by Kath Soucie): Mari's mom. She's the strictest person in her family.
- Mr. Phelps (voiced by Colin Murdock): Mari's dad. He works at the eye doctor's.
- Agent X: A mysterious and cool character who seems to be an FBI agent. He always wears a black suit and tie. He loves cleanliness, just like Dorothy, who has a crush on him.
- Mrs. Winkle (voiced by Cathy Weseluck): Wendy's mom and Walter Winkle's wife. She acts a lot like her husband but doesn't admit they might be related to the Swamp People.
- Rodeo Rita (voiced by Kath Soucie): A bull rider and country singer who turns out to be a fake. Horace is a huge fan of hers and likes her a lot, even after finding out she's a fraud.
- Big Baby: The boys' unnamed female cousin. She's five years old but can barely talk or walk. Dorothy says she puts all her energy into growing. She's also very strong, smart, and tricky. She often tricks the twins into giving her piggyback rides.
- Marsha and Tandy: Dorothy's friends. Marsha is voiced by Ellen Kennedy and Tandy by Iris Quinn. They often argue and seem to enjoy Dorothy's problems, especially when the twins embarrass her.
