Story of the Film
A Satellite Beacon Falls to Earth
The movie begins in outer space. A satellite owned by the United States breaks apart. One small but important piece, called a beacon, falls towards Earth. It lands in Australia and is accidentally swallowed by a crocodile.
Back at the CIA, agents learn about the beacon. They know that if it falls into the wrong hands, it could cause big problems. So, they send two agents, Robert Wheeler and Vaughn Archer, to Australia. Their mission is to get the beacon back.
Steve and Terri's Crocodile Rescue
Meanwhile, in Australia, the crocodile that swallowed the beacon lives near a ranch. The ranch owner, Brozzie Drewitt, is upset. She wants to kill the crocodile because it is bothering her cattle. The Department of Fauna and Fisheries sends Sam Flynn to help. Sam tries to convince Brozzie to let professionals move the animal safely. Killing it is against the law. Despite Sam's advice, Brozzie tries to kill the crocodile herself but fails.
Steve Irwin and his wife Terri are filming a documentary about Australia's wild animals. Sam Flynn asks them to help move the crocodile that is bothering Brozzie. Steve successfully catches the large crocodile and puts it in his boat.
The Chase for the Beacon
Wheeler and Archer, the CIA agents, are nearby. They are using GPS to track the beacon. When they see Steve and Terri with the crocodile, they think the Irwins have the beacon on purpose. The agents tell the CIA that they believe the Irwins plan to use the beacon. They think Steve and Terri want to pay for a big expansion of Australia Zoo.
Steve and Terri put the crocodile in a special crate. They load it into the back of their truck to take it to a new river system. Wheeler and Archer follow them in their vehicle. Wheeler jumps onto the roof of the Irwins' truck. Steve thinks they are poachers trying to steal the crocodile. Steve climbs onto the roof too. After a short struggle, he knocks Wheeler off the truck.
A Big Misunderstanding
When the Irwins reach the new river, Steve opens the crocodile's crate. He finds that the crocodile has left behind a shiny metal object. Steve thinks it is just a child's toy that was thrown away. He and Terri successfully release the crocodile into the Thomson River.
But Wheeler and Archer show up again in a boat. They are still determined to get the beacon. Then, another person, Jo Buckley, arrives in a small plane called an ultralight. She throws sticks of dynamite at Wheeler and Archer's boat. Their boat is destroyed, and the two agents fall into the river.
Steve believes he and Terri are caught in a "poacher war." He does not want the dynamite to hurt the crocodile they just moved. So, he uses a rope to lasso the plane. This causes it to crash into the river. Jo Buckley survives and swims to shore. She calls her boss, who is now in trouble with the police.
The Truth Comes Out
The CIA decides they need to take serious action. They call the U.S. President, George W. Bush, at the White House. They ask for permission to send military helicopters to Australia to get the beacon.
Steve is finishing his documentary by throwing the "toy" (which is actually the beacon) into the air. Just then, the military helicopters arrive. Steve hands them the beacon. Everyone realizes it was all a big misunderstanding! In the end, the CIA sends Wheeler and Archer to work as volunteers at the zoo. Brozzie also becomes a volunteer for the Department of Fauna and Fisheries.
