What is The Sorcerer's Apprentice About?
This movie tells the story of Balthazar Blake, played by Nicolas Cage. He is a powerful sorcerer living in modern-day Manhattan, New York City. Balthazar's main goal is to protect the city from his old enemy, Maxim Horvath, played by Alfred Molina.
Balthazar knows he cannot defeat Horvath alone. So, he finds a seemingly ordinary young man named Dave Stutler, played by Jay Baruchel. Dave seems like a regular guy, but he has a secret power for magic. Balthazar decides to make Dave his protégé, even though Dave is not very keen on the idea at first.
Dave's Magical Training
The sorcerer gives his new, unwilling helper a quick but intense lesson in magic. Dave learns about the art and science of spells and enchantments. Together, these two very different partners must work to stop the dark forces that threaten the city.
Dave needs to be very brave to get through his training. He also has to help save Manhattan and, hopefully, get the girl he likes. This journey is how he truly becomes "The Sorcerer's Apprentice."
