Thomas Walter Brand, 3rd Viscount Hampden (born January 29, 1869 – died September 4, 1958) was an important British soldier and a member of the nobility. He was the son of the 2nd Viscount Hampden.

Early Life and Education
Thomas Walter Brand went to two famous schools. He studied at Eton College, which is a well-known boarding school. After that, he attended Trinity College, Cambridge, a very old and respected university.
Family Life
On April 29, 1899, Thomas Walter Brand married Lady Katharine Mary Montagu-Douglas-Scott. She was the daughter of a duke. Together, they had eight children.
Military Career and Service
Thomas Walter Brand had a long and active career in the British Army. He served as an officer in the Hertfordshire Regiment. He also fought in the Second Boer War in South Africa in 1899.
Later, from 1908 to 1910, he worked as a brigadier-major in the British Armed Forces. In February 1913, he became the commanding officer of the 1st Battalion of the Hertfordshire Regiment.
When the First World War began, his regiment was sent to the Western Front. He led his troops until January 1915. He was then promoted to brigadier general. This meant he was in charge of larger groups of soldiers.
He commanded different brigades (large military units) during the war. These included the 126th (East Lancashire) Brigade during the Gallipoli Campaign. He also led the 185th (2/1st West Riding) Brigade at the Battle of Cambrai and other battles in 1918. From 1935 to 1939, he was the Colonel of the 10th Royal Hussars.
Other Interests and Activities
Besides his military work, Thomas Walter Brand also enjoyed other activities. In 1899, he played in a historic polo match. This was the first international polo game between England and Australia, held in Melbourne.
