Thorington is a small village and a "civil parish" in Suffolk, England. A civil parish is like a local area with its own small government. It's found in the East Suffolk area. You can find Thorington about 3 miles (5 km) south-east of Halesworth town. It's just south of another village called Wenhaston. The A12 main road passes through the eastern part of the parish. In 2001, only 76 people lived here.
There used to be a big house called Thorington Hall, but it was taken down in 1949. However, a special building called The Round House still stands. It was once a gamekeeper's lodge for the Thorington Estate. This means it was where someone who looked after the wild animals and land lived.
Church Farm Nature Reserve
Thorington is home to a special place called Church Farm Marshes. This is a nature reserve, which is an area protected for its wildlife and natural beauty. It has meadows and marshland, covering about 31 hectares (77 acres). This reserve is located along a small river that flows into the River Blyth.
The Suffolk Wildlife Trust owns and looks after Church Farm Marshes. This organization works to protect wildlife in Suffolk. The reserve is also known as a "County Wildlife Site." This means it's recognized as an important place for local plants and animals. It's a great spot to see different kinds of birds, insects, and plants that thrive in wet and grassy areas.
