When Tieri was first built, there weren't many facilities. Early residents remember a time with no shops and a bank that only visited once a week. Today, Tieri has a good range of shops for a mining town.

If you love outdoor adventures, Tieri has bush trails perfect for mountain bikes, quad bikes, and dirt bikes. If you're looking for a special motocross track, the nearest one is about 40 kilometers away in Middlemount.
