Tiffany Jackson-Jones (born April 26, 1985 – died October 3, 2022) was an American basketball player and coach. She played college basketball for the Texas Longhorns. There, she earned special honors as an All-American.

Jackson played professionally in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played for teams like the New York Liberty, Tulsa Shock, and Los Angeles Sparks. She also played in the Israeli Premier League for Maccabi Ashdod. Later, she returned to Texas as an assistant coach for the Longhorns.

Early Life and High School Basketball

Tiffany Jackson was born in Longview, Texas, on April 26, 1985. She started her high school basketball journey at Lincoln High in Dallas. During her sophomore and junior years, she led her team to the Class 4A state championship game twice.

For her senior year, Jackson moved to Duncanville High School in Duncanville. There, she helped her team win a Class 5A state title. She was recognized as an All-American by both McDonald's and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

College Basketball Career

Jackson went to the University of Texas at Austin. She played college basketball for the Texas Longhorns. In 2004, the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) named her the Freshman of the Year. This means she was the best first-year player in college basketball.

As a sophomore in 2006, Jackson was named a first-team college All-American by the USBWA. The Associated Press (AP) also chose her for their third team. She received honorable mentions from the AP in her junior and senior years. She earned special awards in the Big 12 in all four seasons. She was a first-team selection in her last three seasons.

Professional Basketball Career

The New York Liberty team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) chose Jackson. She was the fifth player picked overall in the 2007 WNBA draft. Jackson played her first WNBA game on May 20, 2007. Her team won against the Chicago Sky.

In her first year, she played in the most games in the league (34). The next year, she was great at getting rebounds. On June 14, 2010, the Liberty traded Jackson to the Tulsa Shock. In the 2011 season, Jackson had her best professional year. She averaged 12.4 points and 8.4 rebounds with the Shock. She again played in the most games (34) and had many minutes on the court.

In September 2015, while playing for Tulsa, Jackson was diagnosed with breast cancer. After getting treatment, Jackson returned to play. She joined Maccabi Ashdod in the Israeli Premier League. She had played for this team during the WNBA's off-season since 2013. In February 2017, she signed with the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA.

In February 2018, Jackson signed again with the Sparks. She planned to play one last season with Los Angeles. However, she decided to retire from the WNBA in April 2018. She went back to her old college, the University of Texas, to become an assistant coach. Jackson continued playing with Maccabi Ashdod until 2020. She won several league championships with them. She also helped them reach the semifinals of the EuroCup in 2015.

Tiffany Jackson spent four years as an assistant coach for the Texas Longhorns. In April 2022, she was announced as the new head coach for Wiley College.

Personal Life

Tiffany Jackson was married to Derrick Jones. They had a son, who was born in 2012.

Tiffany Jackson passed away from breast cancer in Dallas on October 3, 2022. She was 37 years old.
