Timothy James Masthay (born March 16, 1987) is a former American football punter. He played for the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League (NFL). Tim played college football at the University of Kentucky.
Masthay started his professional career with the Indianapolis Colts in 2009. He later joined the Green Bay Packers. With the Packers, he won Super Bowl XLV against his hometown team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. His teammates called him "Ginger Wolverine" because of his long red sideburns.

Early Life and Sports
Tim Masthay was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His father, Mark Masthay, is a chemistry professor. His mother, Jean Masthay, works as an executive director. Tim has a brother named Ted.
Growing up, Tim played youth soccer in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended Murray High School in Murray, Kentucky. There, he played many sports, including football, soccer, baseball, and basketball.
In football, Tim played several roles. He was a punter, placekicker, kick returner, and wide receiver. He even helped coach the special teams! During the off-season, Tim and other famous kickers like Thomas Morstead and Pat McAfee teach at Kohl's Kicking Camps. These camps help high school athletes learn how to kick, punt, and long snap.
College Football Career
Tim Masthay played college football for the Kentucky Wildcats football team. He was a Wildcat from 2005 to 2008.

Professional Football Journey
Tim Masthay was not chosen in the 2009 NFL draft. However, he still got a chance to play in the NFL.
Indianapolis Colts Team
After the draft, Masthay signed with the Indianapolis Colts. This means they gave him a contract even though he wasn't drafted. He was with the Colts for a short time and was released on August 11, 2009.
Green Bay Packers Team
On January 15, 2010, the Green Bay Packers signed Tim Masthay. He joined them on a "reserve/future" contract.
In November 2010, he was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week. This award goes to players who do great things in special teams plays.
At the end of the 2010 season, Tim and the Packers played in Super Bowl XLV. They faced the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Packers won the game 31–25! In that game, Tim punted six times, averaging 40.5 yards per punt.
During the 2011 NFL season, Tim Masthay set new records for the Packers. He had the best gross and net punting averages for a season. His gross average was 45.6 yards, and his net average was 38.5 yards.
In a game against the Chicago Bears in the 2012 NFL season, Tim even threw a touchdown pass! It was a 27-yard pass to tight end Tom Crabtree. This happened on a trick play called a "fake field goal."
The Packers released Tim Masthay on August 30, 2016.

Life After Football
After his football career, Tim Masthay started coaching soccer. In the spring of 2018, he joined the Centre Colonels soccer staff. He worked as a volunteer assistant coach.
