Timothy James Masthay (born March 16, 1987) is a former American football player. He was a punter for the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League (NFL). Tim played college football for the Kentucky Wildcats. He joined the Indianapolis Colts in 2009. Later, he won Super Bowl XLV with the Packers. They beat his hometown team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. His teammates called him "Ginger Wolverine" because of his long red sideburns.

Tim Masthay's Early Life and Sports
Tim Masthay was born to Mark and Jean Masthay. He also has a brother named Ted. As a child, Tim played youth soccer in Des Moines.
He went to Murray High School in Murray, Kentucky. There, he played many sports. These included football, soccer, baseball, and basketball. In football, he was a punter, placekicker, and wide receiver. He also helped with special teams. During the off-season, Tim helped teach at Kohl's Kicking Camps. These camps train kickers, punters, and long snappers.
College Football Career
Tim Masthay played college football for the Kentucky Wildcats football team. He was part of the team from 2005 to 2008.
Tim Masthay's Professional Football Journey
Playing for the Indianapolis Colts
After the 2009 NFL draft, Tim Masthay signed with the Indianapolis Colts. This means he joined the team even though he wasn't picked in the draft. However, the Colts released him on August 11, 2009.
Time with the Green Bay Packers
On January 15, 2010, the Green Bay Packers signed Tim Masthay. He joined them on a special contract.
In November 2010, he was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week. This award recognizes top players in special teams.
At the end of the 2010 season, Tim and the Packers played in Super Bowl XLV. They faced the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Packers won the game 31–25. Tim punted six times during that important game.
During the 2011 NFL season, Tim set new records for the Packers. He had the best gross and net punting averages for a season. His gross average was 45.6 yards, and his net average was 38.5 yards.
In a game against the Chicago Bears in 2012, Tim made a special play. He threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to tight end Tom Crabtree. This happened on a fake field goal attempt.
The Packers released Tim Masthay on August 30, 2016.
Life After Football
After his football career, Tim Masthay started coaching soccer. In the spring of 2018, he became a volunteer assistant coach for the Centre Colonels soccer staff.
