Timothy Darrell Russ, born on June 22, 1956, is a talented American actor, musician, writer, and director. He is famous for playing Tuvok in the TV show Star Trek: Voyager. You might also know him as Principal Franklin from the Nickelodeon show iCarly. He has also appeared in movies like Crossroads and East of Hope Street. More recently, he returned as Captain Tuvok in Star Trek: Picard (Season 3).

Early Life and School
Tim Russ was born in Washington, D.C. on June 22, 1956. His mom worked for the government, and his dad was an officer in the United States Air Force. Tim spent some of his childhood living in Turkey.
He finished high school in 1974 at Rome Free Academy. Later, he studied theater arts and graduated from St. Edward's University. He also went to graduate school at Illinois State University. He was even added to their Hall of Fame! When he was younger, he had many dogs.
Acting Career
Tim Russ started acting in 1985. He appeared in an episode of The Twilight Zone. He also had a small part in the funny movie Spaceballs. In this movie, he played a trooper who "combs" the desert with a giant comb!
Star Trek Roles
Tim Russ is very well known for his work in the Star Trek universe. He has been an actor, voice actor, writer, director, and producer for the franchise. Before getting his main role, he played a few smaller characters.
He tried out for the role of Geordi La Forge in Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1987. But he later got the part of Tuvok, a main character in Star Trek: Voyager. Tim was already a big Star Trek fan, also known as a Trekkie. He knew a lot about the Vulcan culture.

- Devor: A spy on the Enterprise-D in The Next Generation (1993).
- T'Kar: A Klingon in Deep Space Nine (1993).
- A human officer on the USS Enterprise-B in the movie Star Trek Generations (1994).
- Tuvok's evil twin from the Mirror Universe in Deep Space Nine (1995).
- A shapeshifter pretending to be Tuvok in Star Trek: Picard (Season 3).
Tim also helped write two Star Trek: Deep Space Nine comic books in 1995. He voiced Tuvok in the video games Star Trek: Voyager – Elite Force and Star Trek: Elite Force II. He also directed and starred in a fan-made Star Trek series called Star Trek: Of Gods and Men.
Other TV Shows and Movies
From 2007 to 2009, Tim played Frank, a funny doorman, in the TV comedy Samantha Who?. He was also Principal Ted Franklin for six seasons on the Nickelodeon show iCarly. You might have also seen him as a doctor in an episode of Hannah Montana.
In 2014, Tim Russ won an Emmy Award! He won it for public service announcements he made for the FBI. These ads were about stopping intellectual property theft and cyberbullying.
He also voiced Captain Kells in the video game Fallout 4 in 2015.
Music and Astronomy
Tim Russ has loved music and singing his whole life. He is also a big fan of astronomy. He has been an amateur astronomer for most of his adult life. He is a member of the Los Angeles Astronomical Society.
In 2021, he was part of a small group of citizen astronomers. They helped find the asteroid 617 Patroclus. This was important for NASA's Lucy probe mission. In 2022, he shared that he owns several telescopes.
