Timmy Time is a fun British stop-motion animated TV show made for young children. It was created by Jackie Cockle, who also worked on Bob the Builder. The show is produced by Aardman Animations, a famous studio known for its clay animation.
The series first aired in the United Kingdom on 6 April 2009 on CBeebies, a BBC channel for kids. Timmy Time is a spin-off from another popular show called Shaun the Sheep. Shaun the Sheep itself came from the Wallace and Gromit film A Close Shave (1995).
The first two series each had 26 episodes. In the UK, new episodes started in September 2011. In Australia, the show began in May 2009 on ABC1. Later, series three aired on ABC 4 Kids in May 2011. About the Show
Timmy Time follows Timmy, a young lamb, and his friends as they learn important lessons. The show teaches them how to share, make friends, and understand when they've made a mistake. Two friendly teachers, Harriet the Heron and Osbourne the Owl, supervise the class. The show is designed for children who are just starting school.
Each episode of Timmy Time is about ten minutes long. Like Shaun the Sheep and Wallace and Gromit, the characters don't speak in full sentences. Instead, they use animal noises and actions to show what they are thinking and feeling. This makes the show easy to understand for young viewers around the world. You won't see Shaun, his sheep friends, Bitzer the dog, or the Farmer in this series.
During its early development, the show was simply called Timmy. CBeebies bought the rights to broadcast the series in the UK in October 2007.
In 2018, Aardman Animations teamed up with the British Council. They created "Learning Time with Timmy," a special version of the show. It helps children aged 2–6 around the world learn the English language. This project also included a series on YouTube and three learning apps.
In October 2019, Aardman announced a new version of the existing 78 episodes for CBeebies. This rebooted version is called It's Timmy Time. These new episodes started airing later that month. They feature narration from young children and are shorter, lasting only 5 minutes compared to the original 10-minute episodes.
Meet the Characters
The show features many different animal characters, each with their own unique personality.
The Children
- Timmy is a lamb and the main character. He loves being the center of attention. Timmy is 3 years old in sheep years and turns 4 in the episode "Timmy's Birthday." He often gets into trouble but always learns from his mistakes. He tries his best to help his friends. Timmy is best friends with Yabba and very close to Finlay. He also appears in Shaun the Sheep. Timmy's noise is "baa."
- Yabba is a female duckling who wears cool blue goggles. She is very similar to Timmy in how she acts and is his best friend. Yabba's noise is "quack."
- Paxton is a piglet who loves to eat, especially apples! He always wears a blue sweater. Paxton's noise is "oink."
- Mittens is a kitten. Like many kittens, she doesn't like getting wet or dirty and can be a bit sensitive. Sometimes, it seems she has a crush on Timmy. She enjoys playing with picnics. Mittens' noise is "mee-eew."
- Ruffy is a puppy who is full of energy. He can sometimes be a little slow to understand things but is a very good friend. Ruffy's noise is "ruff."

- Stripey is a badger cub. He is a bit sleepy and slow because badgers are active mostly at night. Stripey's noise is "honk."
- Kid is a goat who, like Paxton, loves to eat! He will chew on anything he finds. If something is taken from him, he doesn't mind and just finds something else to chew. Kid's noise is "meep meep."
- Otus is an owlet who enjoys helping others and looks up to Osbourne. He often reads books and can be quite sensitive, sometimes copying Osbourne. Otus is sometimes thought to be a girl because of his soft voice and pink and purple feathers. Otus' noise is "too-wit, too-hoo."

About Timmy Time
Timmy Time follows the adventures of Timmy, a young lamb who is the main character from Shaun the Sheep. Timmy is the only lamb in a class of young animals at nursery school. The show focuses on his experiences learning to share, make friends, and understand new things.
What is Stop-Motion Animation?
Timmy Time uses a special animation style called stop-motion. This means that characters and objects are real models, not drawings or computer graphics. Animators take a picture, then move the models tiny bit by tiny bit, taking another picture each time. When all the pictures are played quickly, it looks like the characters are moving on their own! This takes a lot of time and patience to create.
