About Timothy Chandler
Timothy Chandler is a well-known soccer player. He has played for several clubs in Germany. He also represented the United States on the international stage.
His Early Life
Timothy Chandler was born in Frankfurt, West Germany. His father was an African American soldier from the U.S. military. His mother was German. His parents separated when he was very young. Timothy grew up in Germany with his mother.
Playing for Clubs
Timothy started his soccer journey at a young age. He played for Sportfreunde Oberau. He also spent time with Eintracht Frankfurt as a youth player.
Time at 1. FC Nürnberg
In the summer of 2010, Timothy joined 1. FC Nürnberg. He made his first team debut on January 15, 2011. This was in a game against Borussia Mönchengladbach. A month later, on February 12, 2011, he scored his first professional goal. This goal was against VfB Stuttgart.
In the 2011–12 season, Timothy continued to play well. He helped his team win games. For example, he made an assist in a big 5–1 win in the DFB-Pokal cup. He scored his only goal of that season in November. It was a powerful shot that secured a 1–0 win.
Later that season, he received a red card in a game. This meant his team had to play with one less player. Nürnberg finished the season in tenth place in the Bundesliga. Many other clubs were interested in Timothy. However, he decided to stay with Nürnberg. He signed a new contract until July 2015.
In the 2012–13 season, Timothy played in another 30 Bundesliga games. He scored one goal that season. Nürnberg again finished in tenth place in the league.
Returning to Eintracht Frankfurt
After Nürnberg was moved down to a lower league in 2014, Timothy returned to his old club. He signed a three-year contract with Eintracht Frankfurt on June 3, 2014. This was a big move for him. He has been a key player for Eintracht Frankfurt since then.
Playing for His Country
In March 2011, Timothy was chosen to play for the United States. He made his first appearance for the U.S. on March 26, 2011. This was in a friendly game against Argentina.
Later, in 2012, Timothy decided to take a break from the national team. He wanted to figure out his international identity. However, he soon returned to play for the U.S. team. He said he was "1,000 percent" committed.
On February 6, 2013, Timothy played against Honduras. This game was important because it "cap-tied" him to the United States. This means he could only play for the U.S. in future international competitions under FIFA rules.
Timothy was also part of the U.S. team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He was on the final list of 23 players. However, he did not get to play in any games during the tournament. He was also called up for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He started as a right-back in the first game against Honduras.
