Tina Michelle O'Brien (born 7 August 1983) is an English actress. She is famous for playing the character Sarah Platt in the popular ITV soap opera Coronation Street. A soap opera is a long-running TV show about the lives of many different characters. She also acted in the BBC school drama series Waterloo Road.

Acting Career
Tina O'Brien was born in Manchester, England. She went to Trinity C.E. High School. Before her big break, she had small roles in TV shows like Children's Ward in 1997 and The Cops in 1998.
Joining Coronation Street
When she was sixteen, O'Brien joined the cast of Coronation Street in 1999. She took on the role of Sarah Platt. Her character had a major storyline about getting pregnant as a teenager. This story was very popular and won O'Brien an award for Best Storyline at the British Soap Awards. She also won Best Newcomer at the National Television Awards.
Roles After Coronation Street
After leaving Coronation Street in 2008, O'Brien starred in a pantomime (a funny stage play for families) of Cinderella in Manchester. She played the main character. She also appeared in the police drama Blue Murder.
In 2010, O'Brien joined the BBC school drama Waterloo Road. She played Bex Fisher, the daughter of the new headteacher. That same year, she competed in the popular dancing show Strictly Come Dancing. Her professional dance partner was Jared Murillo. She had to miss one week because she was sick and was voted off in the fifth week.
Return to Coronation Street
In 2014, O'Brien announced that she would return to Coronation Street as Sarah Platt. Her character came back to the show on 30 March 2015, and she has been playing the role ever since.
Starting a Drama School
In 2013, O'Brien and her friend Esther Morgan started a drama school for kids in Manchester called Drama MOB. One of their students, Owen Cooper, became a famous actor in the Netflix show Adolescence.
Personal Life
When she was young, Tina O'Brien was a talented gymnast. She stopped when she was 10 years old to focus on acting because her family could not afford to pay for both activities.
O'Brien is the godmother of Emily Walton. Emily was the first actress to play Bethany Platt, who was Sarah Platt's daughter on Coronation Street.
From 2003 to 2009, O'Brien was in a relationship with actor Ryan Thomas, who was also in Coronation Street. They have a daughter named Scarlett. Scarlett is now an actress, too, playing Izzy Charles in the new version of Waterloo Road.
In 2018, O'Brien married Adam Crofts. They have one son together. The couple separated in early 2025.
