Story of the Great Fairy Rescue
Tinker Bell and her fairy friends are at a summer camp in the human world. One day, Tink gets curious and flies to a nearby human house. Vidia, another fairy, follows her.
At the same time, a girl named Lizzy Griffiths and her dad, Dr. Griffiths, arrive at their summer home. Lizzy leaves out a tiny, handmade fairy house. Tink is very interested in it, even though Vidia warns her to stay away. Vidia accidentally traps Tink inside the fairy house.
When Lizzy comes back, she finds Tink inside. Lizzy is very excited and takes Tink into her home. She tries to show Tink to her father, but he is too busy with his research. Lizzy decides to keep Tink a secret. She sees that her dad collects butterflies for his studies.
Tink and Lizzy's Friendship
In her room, Lizzy tells Tinker Bell how much she loves fairies. Tink is happy and decides to teach Lizzy all about fairies. Lizzy writes down everything Tink tells her in a special field journal her dad gave her.
As the rain stops, Tink gets ready to leave. Lizzy runs downstairs to show her dad her new fairy research. Tink flies down to watch, but Dr. Griffiths is too busy fixing leaks in the ceiling to listen. Tink decides to help by fixing all the leaks herself. This way, Dr. Griffiths will have more time for Lizzy.
While fixing the leaks, Tink accidentally lets a butterfly go free. Dr. Griffiths had planned to show this butterfly to a museum in London.
The Fairies' Rescue Mission
Meanwhile, Vidia gathers Rosetta, Iridessa, Fawn, Silvermist, Clank, and Bobble to rescue Tinker Bell. Because it's raining, they can't fly. So, they build a boat to sail to the human house.
The boat ride starts well, but then it crashes near a waterfall. The fairies have to continue their journey on foot. During the walk, Vidia admits that it was her fault Tink got captured. But her friends forgive her, saying it would have been worse if she hadn't been there at all.
A Father's Discovery
The next morning, Lizzy is happy to see that the leaks are fixed. She runs to show her dad her field journal. But instead, he gets upset about the missing butterfly and sends her to her room.
To cheer Lizzy up, Tink teaches her how to fly using pixie dust. The noise brings Dr. Griffiths upstairs. He demands to know the truth. Lizzy tearfully tells him about Tink. Her father still doesn't believe in fairies. He starts tearing down Lizzy's fairy drawings and throws her field journal away.
Tink gets very angry and flies out of her hiding place. She scolds Lizzy's father, which surprises him greatly.
Race to London
Just then, the rescue team of fairies arrives at the house. While some fairies distract Lizzy's cat, Vidia flies upstairs to find Tink. She sees Dr. Griffiths about to catch Tinker Bell. Vidia quickly pushes Tink out of the way and gets captured instead.
Dr. Griffiths doesn't know it's Vidia. He ignores Lizzy's pleas and drives to London to show his "discovery" to the museum committee. Lizzy, with the help of Tink and the other fairies, flies after her father's car.
Tinker Bell flies ahead and messes with the car's engine, making it stop. This allows Lizzy to catch up. Lizzy begs her father not to take Vidia to the museum. Dr. Griffiths finally listens to his daughter and says sorry for not believing her. Lizzy and the fairies then teach her father how to fly!
They all fly back to the house. Soon after, Lizzy and her father have a picnic with the fairies in the field. They read Lizzy's special field journal together.
