Tom Sturridge was born in Lambeth, London. He is one of three children. His father, Charles Sturridge, is a director. His mother, Phoebe Nicholls, is an actress. Tom's sister, Matilda Sturridge, is also an actress.
Tom went to The Harrodian School in London. Other famous actors like Robert Pattinson also went there. Later, he attended Winchester College, which is a school for boys.

Tom Sturridge began acting when he was a child. His first role was in the 1996 TV show Gulliver's Travels. His father directed this show, and his mother also acted in it.
