Thomas Sidney Jerome Sturridge (born on December 5, 1985) is an English actor. He has starred in many films and TV shows. Some of his early movies include Being Julia (2004) and The Boat That Rocked (2009).
Tom Sturridge has also been nominated for top awards for his stage acting. He was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play twice. Tom Sturridge was born in Lambeth, London. He is one of three children. His father, Charles Sturridge, is a director, and his mother, Phoebe Nicholls, is an actress. His sister, Matilda Sturridge, is also an actress.
Tom went to The Harrodian School in Barnes, London. Other famous actors like Robert Pattinson and Will Poulter also went to this school. From 1999 to 2001, he attended Winchester College. This is a school for boys in Winchester, Hampshire.
Acting Career Highlights
Tom Sturridge started acting when he was a child. His first role was in the 1996 TV show Gulliver's Travels. His father directed this show, and his mother also acted in it. In 2004, he appeared in the films Vanity Fair and Being Julia. The next year, he played William Herbert, 3rd Earl of Pembroke in the BBC4 film A Waste of Shame.
In 2006, Tom played Nigel in the movie Like Minds. This film is also known as Murderous Intent. It's about two boys who become roommates. Tom was first chosen to play the main role in the sci-fi movie Jumper. But later, the movie studios decided to replace him with a more famous actor.
In 2009, he starred as Carl in the comedy film The Boat That Rocked. This movie is called Pirate Radio in the United States. He acted alongside stars like Bill Nighy and Philip Seymour Hoffman. That same year, he made his first appearance on stage in the play Punk Rock. He won an award for "Most Promising Newcomer" for this role.
Tom Sturridge acted with Rachel Bilson in the 2011 romance film Waiting for Forever. He also played a character based on the poet Allen Ginsberg in the 2012 movie On the Road. In 2013, he starred in the Broadway play Orphans. He played Phillip, a character with a developmental disability, and was nominated for a Tony Award.

In January 2021, it was announced that Tom Sturridge would play Dream of The Endless / Lord Morpheus in the Netflix TV show The Sandman. The author of The Sandman, Neil Gaiman, said that Tom was one of the top choices for the role from the very beginning.
Personal Life
From 2011 to 2015, Tom Sturridge was in a relationship with actress Sienna Miller. They have a daughter, who was born in July 2012.
Tom's grandparents on his mother's side are actors Anthony Nicholls and Faith Kent. His great-grandfather was the famous photojournalist Horace Nicholls.
