Anthony Tiran Todd (born December 4, 1954 – died November 6, 2024) was an American actor. He was well-known for his deep, rough voice. He appeared in many movies, TV shows, and video games starting in the 1980s.
Some of his most famous roles included the main character in the Candyman movie series (from 1992 to 2021). He also played William Bludworth in the Final Destination movies (from 2000 to 2025). For his role in Candyman, he was nominated for awards like the Critics' Choice and Fangoria Chainsaw Awards.
Todd acted in many films such as Platoon (1986) and The Crow (1994). He also appeared in The Rock (1996) and Wishmaster (1997). On television, he played Kurn in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He was also in the MTV series Scream (2019).
He was also a talented voice actor. He voiced the Vortigaunts in the Half-Life video games. He was the voice of the Fallen in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009). Todd also voiced Zoom in The Flash TV show (2014–2023). He was Darkseid in the DC Animated Movie Universe (2015–2020). In 2023, he voiced Venom in the video game Marvel's Spider-Man 2. For this role, he was nominated for a British Academy Games Award.

Early Life and Education
Tony Todd was born on December 4, 1954, in Washington, D.C. His mother was Evetta Lyons Gaither. He grew up in Hartford, Connecticut. He went to local schools there, including Hartford Public High School.
He also studied at the Artists Collective, Inc.. Todd attended the University of Connecticut. Later, he studied theater at the Eugene O'Neill National Actors Theatre Institute. He also studied at the Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, Rhode Island. Tony had one living brother, Isaiah Lyons, and one living sister, Monique Dupree.
Acting Career
Tony Todd appeared in over 100 movies and TV shows. He acted alongside many famous Hollywood stars. His film roles included Platoon (1986) and Night of the Living Dead (1990). He was well-known for playing the main character in Candyman (1992). He also appeared in The Crow (1994) and The Rock (1996).
Todd was also a part of the Final Destination movie series, starting in 2000. He voiced The Fallen in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009). He also played Reverend Zombie in Hatchet II (2010). His deep voice was used to narrate many projects, including the 2021 documentary Invisible Threads: From Wireless to War. In 2024, Todd returned to play William Bludworth in Final Destination Bloodlines.

He played several characters in the Star Trek universe. He was Worf's brother Kurn in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Tony Todd was married to Fatima Cortez. They had two children, a son named Alexander and a daughter named Ariana.
Health and Passing
In 2023, when Tony Todd began filming Final Destination Bloodlines, he privately shared that he had terminal stomach cancer. Because of this, during filming in early 2024, the producers allowed him to change the last lines of his character, Mr. Bludworth. This way, he could say a special goodbye to his audience. His character's last words were: "Life is precious, enjoy every single second. You never know when... Good luck."
Tony Todd passed away at his home in Marina del Rey, California, on November 6, 2024. He was 69 years old. The cause of his death was stomach cancer. Both the movie Bloodlines and the video game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were dedicated to his memory.
