The Landscape and River
The town is in a very fertile valley. The Esla River flows through it, shaping the land over thousands of years. This river forms the eastern border of the town. To the west, there is a slope that separates the valley from a higher, stony area called the Paramo Leonés.
This stony slope used to have many vineyards. Today, these vineyards are gone. Only the old storage buildings remain. These buildings are colorful and dug into the earth. The fertile valley stretches from north to south. The towns of Villademor de la Vega and Algadefe are located at its northern and southern ends.
Farming and Climate
The land in Toral de los Guzmanes is very rich and good for farming. This is thanks to the hard work of farmers over hundreds of years. It is also because the soil is naturally fertile and there is plenty of water.
The climate here is called continental. This means it has very hot summers and very cold winters. The temperatures can be quite extreme.
What Do People Do Here?
Toral de los Guzmanes is mainly a farming and cattle-raising town. Most people work in agriculture. However, some people also work in construction or other services.
