Trin is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Imboden Region in Switzerland. It is part of the canton of Graubünden. A beautiful lake called Crestasee is found in Trin.

History of Trin
Trin was first mentioned in old writings during the 12th century. Back then, it was known by the name Turunnio.
Exploring Trin's Geography
Trin is located high up on a mountain slope. It sits above the Rhine valley. You can find it on the road that connects Domat/Ems and Flims. Another village, Mulin, is also part of Trin. Mulin is at the bottom of the slope, right at the edge of the valley.
The total area of Trin is about 47.2 square kilometers (about 18.2 square miles). A big part of this land, about 33%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 24% of the area. Only a small part, about 1.7%, has buildings or roads. The rest of the land, about 40%, is made up of natural features like rivers, glaciers, or mountains.
Before 2017, Trin was part of a smaller area called the Trins sub-district. Now, it is part of the larger Imboden Region. The municipality includes the villages of Trin, Digg, and Mulin. Until 1943, the town was known as Trins.
People and Population in Trin
Trin has a population of 1,479 people. About 11.6% of the people living in Trin are from other countries. Over the last ten years, the number of people living in Trin has grown by about 2.1%.
In 2000, the population was almost equally split between males and females. About 12.1% of the people were children aged 0 to 9 years old. Teenagers aged 10 to 19 made up about 13.1% of the population. Most adults were between 30 and 49 years old. About 8.8% of the people were seniors aged 60 to 69.
In the 2007 national election, the most popular political party was the FDP. It received about 36.4% of the votes. Other popular parties included the SVP and the SPS.
Many adults in Trin have completed higher education. About 71.3% of people aged 25 to 64 have finished either advanced secondary school or a university degree.
Trin has a low unemployment rate of 1.62%. This means most people who want to work can find jobs. In 2005, many people worked in farming. Others worked in manufacturing or service jobs like shops and hotels.
Regarding religion in 2000, about 22.7% of the people were Roman Catholic. A larger group, about 56.3%, belonged to the Swiss Reformed Church. Some people belonged to other Christian churches or the Islamic faith. About 7.58% of the population did not belong to any church.

Important Heritage Sites
The Crap Sogn Parcazi is a very important historical site in Trin. It includes the ruins of an old castle and a church that was also used for defense. This site is listed as a Swiss heritage site of national significance.

Transportation in Trin
Trin has its own railway station, called Trin. It is on the Reichenau-Tamins–Disentis/Mustér line. Trains regularly travel from Trin to Disentis/Mustér and Scuol-Tarasp.
