The Tyler Branch is a small river in Vermont, United States. It flows into the Missisquoi River. This river travels through towns like Bakersfield, Enosburg, and Sheldon. These towns are all located in Franklin County.

A road called Tyler Branch Road runs along one side of the river. Other roads like Horsehoe Circle and Enosburg Mountain Road are near the upper part of the river.

During winter, the Tyler Branch usually freezes over. This happens from about mid-December to mid-March. It's generally safe to walk on the ice from late December to early March. But always be careful around fast-moving water, as it might not freeze completely.

River's Journey

The Tyler Branch starts in Bakersfield. It begins in a mountain area covered with forests. From its start, the river flows for about 18.5 kilometres (11.5 mi) (about 11.5 miles).

The upper part of the river flows through thick forests. As it moves downstream, it passes through areas with both forests and farms. The river's path generally follows the Tyler Branch Road.

Here's how the river flows:

  • It travels about 2.6 kilometres (1.6 mi) (1.6 miles) downhill towards the southwest. Then it turns northwest. It crosses Enosburg Mountain Road and meets Cold Hollow Brook.
  • Next, it flows about 2.2 kilometres (1.4 mi) (1.4 miles) northwest through Bakersfield. It then enters Enosburg and joins Beaver Meadow Brook.
  • The river continues for about 5.0 kilometres (3.1 mi) (3.1 miles) northwest in Bakersfield. It picks up water from three other small brooks. Then it curves southeast and meets Bogue Brook.
  • It flows about 2.3 kilometres (1.4 mi) (1.4 miles) northwest, then turns west. Here it connects with a stream simply called The Branch.
  • Finally, it travels about 6.4 kilometres (4.0 mi) (4 miles) northwest through farmland. It enters Sheldon and makes a curve towards the southwest before reaching its end.

The Tyler Branch empties into the Missisquoi River. This meeting point is on the south side of the Missisquoi River. It's about 1.1 km (0.68 mi) (0.7 miles) west of the center of Enosburg Falls village. From there, the water flows generally west for 31.7 km (19.7 mi) (19.7 miles) along the Missisquoi River. This journey ends at the eastern shore of Lake Champlain.
