UPIXO in Action: Mission in Snowdriftland is a fun platform game also known as Mission in Snowdriftland. It was made by a German company called Extra Toxic, with help from Nintendo. This game was special because it was also like an Advent calendar.
From December 1 to December 24, 2006, a new level was added each day. Each level had enemies and 24 snowflakes to collect. If you collected all the snowflakes in a level, you unlocked special downloads. The game was first taken offline on January 16, 2007. The original game is not on its official website anymore. However, you can still play it through BlueMaxima's Flashpoint. Fabian Del Priore created the music for the game.

Story of Mission in Snowdriftland
The story begins with an evil penguin named El Pix. He has stolen important game files from the Human World. El Pix took these files to his secret hideout in Snowdriftland. The UPIXO (United Pixelheroes Organisation) team was worried. Snowdriftland was too cold for anyone to survive there.
But then, Professor Schwabbel, the UPIXO boss's assistant, found a solution. He saw Chubby Snow, a living snowman, complaining at the front desk. Chubby was upset because he always got bad roles in video games. Professor Schwabbel asked Chubby Snow to get the stolen game files back. Every day in December 2006, a new part of Chubby's adventure became available. This led up to the final battle with El Pix on December 24.
How to Play Mission in Snowdriftland
The game has four main areas to explore. These areas are floating ice chunks, a forest, a big iceberg, and El Pix's secret lair. Each area has six stages, making a total of 24 stages. Each stage's number matches the day in December 2006 it was released.
In each stage, you need to find 24 snowflakes. Collecting these snowflakes unlocks rewards. These rewards are usually files for games or consoles that you helped get back. You do not have to finish a stage to move to the next one. However, there is a special reward if you collect all snowflakes in every stage. Also, you cannot fight El Pix in the final battle until you have completed all 24 stages.
When you start, Chubby Snow can only take three hits before he loses. Some levels have hidden power-ups. These can be extra heart containers. If you find one, it gives Chubby a permanent extra heart. This helps him take more hits before he loses.
Bringing the Game Back
After January 16, 2007, the game was still playable on ExtraToxic's website. It was supposed to be protected by a password. But, a small computer mistake meant the password did not work. This allowed people to keep playing the game.
In the winter of 2010, the game was released again. This time, it was to help promote indie games on Nintendo's WiiWare online store. But, it was only available for a few days, just like before.
Later, in December 2020, web browsers stopped using Adobe Flash Player. This was the program that Mission in Snowdriftland needed to run. So, the game became very hard to play. Luckily, a project called BlueMaxima's Flashpoint saved many old Flash games. They brought Mission in Snowdriftland back, and you can play it in their collection.
A YouTuber named Nick Robinson made a video about the game. It was called "Mission in Snowdriftland: Nintendo's forgotten Flash game." This video shared exciting news. A new, improved version of the game was announced for Steam. It was released in late 2021. The people who made the game might also create a version for the Nintendo Switch in the future.
