History of Union Grove
The name "Union Grove" was given by Governor Henry Dodge. He combined the word "Union" with "Grove." This was because of the beautiful grove of burr oak trees found on the west side of the land.

Getting Around Union Grove
Union Grove used to be a stop on a train line called the Racine & Southwestern branch. This line was part of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, also known as the Milwaukee Road.
Later, the Milwaukee Road company went out of business in 1980. The train line from Sturtevant through Union Grove to Kansasville is now used by CP Rail. There have been talks about turning the old railroad path into a bike path, but this plan has not happened yet.

- James Vint: He was a state legislator from Milwaukee. He later moved to Union Grove and farmed there. He also managed a company called the Farmers' Cooperative Elevator.
