United Nations Security Council Resolution 43 was a special decision made by the United Nations Security Council on April 1, 1948. All 11 countries on the Council voted for it, meaning it was adopted unanimously. This resolution was about the growing problems and fighting happening in a region called Palestine at that time.
What Resolution 43 Asked For
The main goal of Resolution 43 was to try and stop the violence in Palestine. It asked two main groups, the Jewish Agency for Palestine and the Arab Higher Committee, to send their representatives to talk with the Security Council. The idea was to work out a way to stop the fighting, which is called a truce, and make sure everyone followed it.
Stopping the Fighting
The resolution also directly told all armed groups, both Arab and Jewish, to stop their acts of violence right away. The United Nations wanted to bring peace and order back to the region as quickly as possible.
