History of La Salle in Mexico
The story of La Salle in Mexico began in 1905. Brothers from the La Salle order traveled from France and Colombia to Mexico. They started the La Salle group there.
These brothers opened schools in many Mexican cities. Their first high school in Mexico City, called Colegio Francés De la Salle, opened in 1931. The National Autonomous University of Mexico officially recognized this school in 1932. Another school, Colegio Cristóbal Colón, was started in 1938.
Starting the University
The Universidad La Salle officially began in 1962. This happened when the Colegio Cristóbal Colón moved to a new location in Mexico City. On February 15, 1962, the new campus opened. At first, only the high school building was ready.
But by May of the same year, the school had grown quickly. It was announced that it would become a full university. Since then, the university has continued to grow. The main campus in Mexico City now has about 10,000 students. It has also added more buildings in different parts of the city.
ULSA is considered one of the top private universities in Mexico. It is especially well-known for programs like Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, and Medicine.
Medical School
The medical school at Universidad La Salle is called Facultad Mexicana de Medicina. It is one of the most respected medical schools in Mexico. It was the first private medical school in the country, founded in 1970. Many top doctors in Mexico have graduated from La Salle's medical school.
