Valérie Boyer (born on June 11, 1962) is a French politician. She has been a Senator for the Bouches-du-Rhône area in France since 2020. Before that, she was a member of the National Assembly from 2007 to 2020. Valérie Boyer is part of a political party called The Republicans. She has also served as a local council member in the city of Marseille since 2001.

Early Life and Family
Valérie Boyer was born in Bourges, France, on June 11, 1962. Her parents were born in Algeria and Tunis. These places were under French rule at the time. Her family moved from Algeria to France in 1962.
Political Career
Serving in the National Assembly (2007–2020)
Valérie Boyer first became involved in local politics in 2001. She was elected to the city council of Marseille. In 2007, she was elected to the National Assembly. This is like one of the main law-making bodies in France.
From 2008 to 2014, she also worked as a deputy to the Mayor of Marseille, Jean-Claude Gaudin. Later, from 2014 to 2017, she was the mayor of a specific part of Marseille.
Before the 2017 presidential election, Valérie Boyer helped with the campaign for François Fillon. She also supported Laurent Wauquiez in his election to lead The Republicans party in 2017. After he was elected, she became a deputy secretary general for the party.
While in the National Assembly, she was part of the Committee on Foreign Affairs. This committee deals with how France interacts with other countries. She also worked with groups that promote friendship between France and countries like Jordan, Armenia, and South Sudan.
Becoming a Senator (2020–Present)
In 2020, Valérie Boyer was elected to the French Senate. The Senate is another important part of the French parliament. After she moved to the Senate, Julien Ravier took her place in the National Assembly.
Political Ideas and Actions
Valérie Boyer has worked on several important laws. In 2008, she proposed a law to make it a crime to encourage very unhealthy eating habits. This law passed in the National Assembly but did not pass in the Senate. In 2009, she suggested a law to fine advertisements that used models who looked very thin due to eating disorders.
In 2011, a bill she presented was passed by the National Assembly. This bill made it illegal to deny that the Armenian genocide happened. This decision caused some disagreement between France and Turkey. Valérie Boyer reported receiving threats after this bill passed.
In 2019, Valérie Boyer did not support a law that would give single women and same-sex couples free access to certain fertility treatments. This law was a promise from President Emmanuel Macron.
