Valentine is a small community in Mohave County, Arizona, United States. It is known as an "unincorporated community." This means it does not have its own local government like a city or town. It is also a "census-designated place" (CDP). This is a special area created by the U.S. Census Bureau for counting people.

In 2020, Valentine had a population of 39 people. It is located on Arizona State Route 66, which used to be part of the famous U.S. Route 66. Valentine is about 32 miles northeast of Kingman. Most of Valentine is part of the Hualapai Reservation. The rest of the community is in Mohave County.

Learning in Valentine

The Valentine Elementary School District helps educate children in Valentine. It also serves nearby communities like Truxton and Hackberry. The district has one school for students from kindergarten to 8th grade.

This school is located in Truxton. The original school campus was in Valentine itself. However, the Valentine campus closed in 1969. All classes then moved to the Truxton location.

Truxton Canyon Training School

From 1903 to 1937, a special school operated in Valentine. It was called the Truxton Canyon Training School. The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) ran this school. The BIA is a U.S. government agency. It works with Native American tribes and communities.

The Truxton Canyon Training School helped educate Native American children. Even today, the Bureau of Indian Affairs still has an office in Valentine.
