Early Life and Art Education
Veronica Ruiz de Velasco was born in Mexico City in 1968. Her parents were Pedro Ruiz de Velasco and Susana Zenteno Ruiz de Velasco. She was the 15th of 18 children in her family.
In 1983, Veronica was accepted into art classes at La Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes La Esmeralda in Mexico City. The next year, a gallery in Mexico City showed her artwork. This was a big step for her in the Mexican art world. Many leading painters, like Teodulo Romulo and Gilberto Aceves Navarro, saw her work. Romulo even offered to teach her his special art techniques.
In 1984, Veronica traveled to Paris, France. There, she met with the artist Jean Dubuffet to talk about art methods. In 1985, the famous artist Rufino Tamayo invited Veronica to his studio for private lessons. Tamayo praised her art, saying it had "an excellent Color." From 1985 to 1988, Veronica took more courses at the Academia de San Carlos in Mexico City. During this time, she also had private lessons with Gilberto Aceves Navarro. She considers him her most important teacher.

Exhibitions in Mexico
In 1985, Veronica Ruiz de Velasco had an art show at the Gallery of the Loteria National in Mexico. In 1986, she held another show at the Mexico City International Airport.
In 1987, she made history as the youngest female artist to have an exhibition at the Museo de Arte Moderno (Museum of Modern Art) in Mexico. This show was a tribute to the famous composer Andrew Lloyd Webber. It featured artworks inspired by his musicals like Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, and Phantom of the Opera. The museum later included Veronica in their 25-year celebration book, recognizing her as one of Mexico's top artists.
In 1989, Veronica painted a large mural at the American British Cowdray Medical Center in Mexico City. This mural took almost a year to finish. The unveiling of the mural was a major event in Mexico. The U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Charles J. Pilliod Jr., officially showed the mural. Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, was also there and thanked Veronica for her hard work and generous donation.
Later, the curator of the Rockefeller Collection in New York City asked her to create a piece for their collection. In 1994, the Goodyear Corporation in Akron, Ohio, held an exhibition of her artwork in their private gallery. In 1995, Coronado S.A. de C.V. also showed her art in their gallery in Mexico City.
In 1996, Veronica Ruiz de Velasco created a portrait for President Bill Clinton. President Clinton and Hillary Clinton sent her a letter to thank her for the portrait.
Art in the United States
In the summer of 1995, Veronica met her future husband while on vacation in Cozumel. In July 1996, they got married. In August, her father, Pedro Ruiz de Velasco, passed away. In September, she moved to Dallas with her husband.
In January 1997, Lifestyle Magazine published a story about Veronica's art career. In February, the Anasazi Gallery in Dallas held a solo show for her. Companies like Lucent Technologies and AT&T also displayed her work in their private galleries. In October, Nordstrom in Dallas featured Veronica's oil paintings to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. She signed many autographs and her art was used as a backdrop for a fashion show.
In 1997, Mrs. Nancy Hamon asked Veronica to create a mural. This mural was for the Nancy and Jake L. Hamon Biomedical Research Building at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. The mural was very large, measuring 3 meters by 4 meters. Nancy Hamon and Dr. Kern Wildenthall, the Medical Center Director, officially unveiled it.
In April 1999, Veronica had an exhibition at the Florence Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas. In July 1999, the Beaux Art group at the Dallas Museum of Art chose her paintings for a charity auction. In December 1999, she had a solo exhibition at the Irving Arts Center (Museum) in Irving, Texas.
In April 2000, Veronica held an exhibition at the Mission Gallery in Highland Park, Texas. In 2003, she created two murals and gave them to the Beaty Early Childhood School in Plano, Texas. In 2005, she painted an airplane that now hangs from the ceiling of the new International Terminal at the Dallas–Fort Worth Airport. In 2007, she painted the cover for the September/October edition of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists magazine.
In 2009, Veronica Ruiz de Velasco was one of five Mexican artists chosen to create a painting representing Mexico at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
In 2019, Veronica Ruiz de Velasco was interviewed on the TV show "Estamos Unidos America," which aired on Mega TV.
In November 2020, Veronica Ruiz de Velasco opened her own art gallery in Palm Beach on Worth Avenue.
In 2021, Judge Jeanine Pirro interviewed Veronica about her career inside her gallery. The interview was posted on Judge Pirro's Instagram page.
In January 2022, Judge Jeanine Pirro thanked Veronica on her national Fox News show, "The Five." She thanked Veronica for creating a beautiful painting of her three dogs: Ted, Red, and Stella.
From March 31 to April 2, 2023, Veronica held an exhibition at the Salon international d'art Contemporain at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France.
