Vilas is a small town located in Langlade County, Wisconsin, in the United States. In 2010, about 233 people lived there. It is known for its natural beauty and quiet way of life.

Geography of Vilas
Vilas is found in the western part of Langlade County. It shares a border with Lincoln County to its west. The town is about 18 miles (29 km) northwest of Antigo. Antigo is the main city and county seat for Langlade County.
Land and Water Areas
According to the United States Census Bureau, Vilas covers a total area of about 35.8 square miles (92.8 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. Only a very small part, about 0.03 square miles (0.07 square kilometers), is water. This means water makes up less than one percent of the town's total area.
Rivers and Drainage
Most of the water in Vilas flows into the Pine River. This river then joins the Wisconsin River further south near Merrill. However, some parts of the town, especially the southeast and northeast corners, drain into the West Branch of the Eau Claire River. This river also eventually flows into the Wisconsin River, but closer to Wausau.
People of Vilas
In the year 2000, there were 249 people living in Vilas. These people lived in 97 different homes, and 64 of these were families. The town had about 6.9 people living per square mile. All the people living in Vilas at that time were identified as White.
Households and Families
Out of the 97 homes, almost 30% had children under 18 years old living there. Most homes, about 60%, were married couples living together. A small number, about 3%, had a female head of household without a husband. About 28% of all homes were made up of people living alone.
