Vincent Candela (born October 24, 1973) is a famous French former professional football player. He was a strong defender, best known for playing many years with the Italian club Roma. Vincent Candela also played 40 games for the French national team. He was part of the amazing teams that won the 1998 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Euro 2000 championship!

Vincent Candela was born in a town called Bédarieux in France. He grew up there before starting his exciting football journey.
Playing for Football Clubs
Vincent Candela played for several football clubs during his career. He started in France before moving to Italy and England.
Starting in France
Candela began his club career in France. He played for Toulouse from 1992 to 1995. After that, he joined Guingamp and played there from 1995 to 1997.
Success with AS Roma
In 1997, Candela moved to Italy to play for AS Roma. This was where he spent most of his career, staying until 2005. With Roma, he helped the team win the scudetto (the Italian league championship) in 2001. They also won the Supercoppa Italiana in the same year. He was a key player for Roma during this successful period.
Later Club Teams
After his time at Roma, Candela joined the English team Bolton Wanderers in 2005. He then returned to Italy. He played for Udinese from 2005 to 2006 and Siena from 2006 to 2007. He also had a short loan spell with Messina in 2007. His last match in Italy's top league, Serie A, was for Messina against Ascoli on January 28, 2007.

Vincent Candela was known for being a fast and smart player. He was a wingback, which means he could help in attack as well as defend. He was very good at moving forward and joining the offense.
