Viriato Manuel Pereira de Macedo (born October 16, 1965) is also known as Vinny deMacedo. He is an American politician with roots in Cape Verde. He served as a State Senator for the Plymouth and Barnstable District. This district includes towns like Bourne, Falmouth, Kingston, Pembroke, Plymouth, and Sandwich.
Vinny deMacedo is a member of the Republican Party. He officially became a Massachusetts State Senator on January 7, 2015. In November 2019, he decided to leave the Senate. He took a new job working in higher education.
Vinny deMacedo: A Public Servant
Vinny deMacedo started his political journey without any previous experience. He first ran for the Massachusetts House of Representatives on November 3, 1998. He won that election by a very small number of votes.
He then served as a State Representative for many years. He was re-elected seven times, serving until 2014. In November 2014, he was elected to the Massachusetts Senate. He took over from Therese Murray, who was retiring.
As a State Senator, he worked on important issues. He focused on helping Massachusetts deal with the opiate crisis. He also worked to make sure the state managed its money wisely.

His Life Story
Vinny deMacedo was born in Brava, Cape Verde. He has six brothers and sisters. One of his older brothers is Donaldo Macedo. In 1966, when Vinny was just six months old, his family moved to the New England area of the United States.
They first lived in Dorchester. Three years later, they moved to Kingston. Vinny grew up in Kingston and graduated from Silver Lake Regional High School in 1983. He then went to The King's College in New York. He earned a degree in Business Administration in 1987.
After college, Vinny deMacedo worked with his brother in the car business. In 1991, he opened his own gas station in Cedarville. He still owns and runs the RWA Mobil Station on Route 3A. He is also a member of local business groups.
Vinny is married to Jennifer de Macedo. They have three children. In January 2008, he visited Cape Verde for the first time since he was a baby. He met with leaders there, including President Pedro Pires.
