Wahkon is a small city located in Mille Lacs County, Minnesota, in the United States. In 2020, about 235 people lived there. This was a small increase from 206 people in 2010.

History of Wahkon
Wahkon started in 1885 with the name "Pots Town." Later, in 1891, its name changed to "Lawrence" when a post office was opened. In 1901, another area called "Pottstown" was planned right next to Lawrence.
In 1907, the Soo Line Railroad helped plan the area that became Wahkon. By 1910, "Pottstown" and "Lawrence" had joined together to form Wahkon. The city officially became a city on November 6, 1912.
Before Wahkon was established, the area was home to Native American villages. First, it was a village of the Mdewakanton Dakota people. Later, it became an Ojibwe village called Sagawamick. This name comes from the Ojibwe language and means "Sandbar."
Geography of Wahkon
Wahkon is found in the northeastern part of Mille Lacs County. Minnesota State Highway 27 runs through the city and is known as its Main Street. This highway goes northeast about 3 miles (5 km) to Isle. It also goes southwest about 9 miles (14 km) to Onamia.
The city of Wahkon covers a total area of about 0.96 square miles (2.5 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. Only a very small part, about 0.007 square miles (0.02 square kilometers), is water. Wahkon is located on the south and east shores of Wahkon Bay, which is part of Mille Lacs Lake.
