Walnut Cove is a small town in Stokes County, North Carolina, United States. In 2020, about 1,536 people lived there.
Walnut Cove is famous for its Springfest, a fun festival that brings many visitors to the area. The town officially became a town in 1889. But its history goes back to the mid-1700s. Back then, it was known as Town Fork.
Early settlers in Town Fork became friends with the Moravians. Moravians are a Christian group known for their strong communities. William Lash, a Moravian from Bethania, bought land near Town Fork Creek. This land grew into a large farm called Walnut Cove.
Years ago, Walnut Cove was a busy railroad hub. You can still see parts of the old Train Depot on Depot Street today. The town is also home to several old buildings. These include the historic Covington House, built in 1821, and the Fulp-Marshall Home from 1836. The Monitor Roller Mill, built in 1900, is another historic spot.
South Stokes High School is a big part of the town. It is located west of the town center. Walnut Cove is also close to beautiful natural places. These include Belews Lake and Hanging Rock State Park. Larger cities like Winston-Salem are about 23 miles away. Other nearby towns include Danbury, Germanton, Madison, and Mayodan.

History of Walnut Cove
Walnut Cove has a rich history. Two of its important buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These are the Christ Episcopal Church and the Walnut Cove Colored School. These places are recognized for their historical importance.
Some famous people have connections to Walnut Cove. Burt Myers, a well-known race car driver, is from the town. He races in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour. Also, the country music artist Joe Nichols once lived in Walnut Cove. He attended South Stokes High School.
