Weir is a small town in Choctaw County, Mississippi, in the United States. In 2020, about 441 people lived there. The town's population has changed over the years, with 459 people living there in 2010 and 553 in 2000.

History of Weir
The town of Weir was started in 1868 by two brothers, John and James Weir. John Weir was a former colonel from the Confederate Army.
Weir experienced a tornado on April 24, 2010. A tornado is a powerful, spinning storm that can cause a lot of damage.
Where is Weir Located?
Weir is in the southwestern part of Choctaw County. It is located near the Yockanookany River to the north. Mississippi Highway 12 runs north of the town. This highway connects Weir to Ackerman, which is the county seat (the main town of the county), and to Kosciusko.
The town covers a total area of about 2.8 square kilometers (1.07 square miles). Most of this area is land, with a small part, about 0.04 square kilometers (0.01 square miles), being water.

Weir is home to Weir Elementary Center. This school teaches students from pre-kindergarten up to 6th grade. It is part of the Choctaw County School District.
The school was once very famous for its football team. Between 1984 and 2004, the team played in ten state championships and won six of them!
In 2005, the school got a new building. It was named after Mr. Marion Kelly, who worked at the school for about 40 years as a teacher, coach, and principal.
