Wells is a small town located in Rutland County, Vermont, in the United States. In 2020, about 1,214 people lived there. It's a quiet place known for its beautiful natural surroundings.

Geography of Wells

Wells covers a total area of about 23.4 square miles (61 km2). Most of this area, around 22.5 square miles (58 km2), is land. The rest, about 0.8 square miles (2.1 km2) or 3.42%, is water. The main village of Wells is in the southern part of the town. You can find it along Vermont Route 30.

Lakes and Ponds in Wells

Wells is home to some lovely bodies of water. Little Lake, also called Little Pond, is completely within the town's borders. Part of Lake Saint Catherine is also in Wells.

Lake Saint Catherine is a large lake, about 930 acres (376 ha) big. It starts in Poultney and flows south into Wells. The deepest part of the lake is 68 feet, and its average depth is about 32.2 feet. It holds a lot of water, about 36,937,000 m3 (1.304417845×109 cu ft). This lake is about five miles long. It connects to Little Pond through a narrow channel.

Little Pond is a shallower lake, about 181 acres (73 ha) in size. It's only about two feet deep on average, with a maximum depth of four feet. Its volume is about 447,000 m3 (15,785,656 cu ft).
