Welshpool is a suburb located in the southeastern part of Perth, Western Australia. Most of Welshpool is in the City of Canning, and a smaller part is in the Town of Victoria Park.
Welshpool is one of Perth's main industrial areas. This means it has many factories, warehouses, and businesses. Other industrial areas in Perth include Kewdale and Canning Vale.
You might notice three tall silo towers in Welshpool. These towers store food products for farms and the poultry industry. Welshpool is a good place for industries because it is close to Perth Airport. It is also not far from the center of Perth.
The suburb of Welshpool gets its name from a town called Welshpool in Wales, a country in the United Kingdom.
Getting Around Welshpool
Welshpool used to have its own train station, called Welshpool railway station. This station was on the Armadale and Thornlie train lines.
Over time, the train station changed. In the past, it had many extra tracks connected to different businesses. These extra tracks were removed by the 2000s.
Welshpool Station closed on November 20, 2023. It was taken down because not many people used it. The railway line was also being updated.
Even though the train station is gone, you can still get around by bus. Bus routes 282 and 283 are nearby on Welshpool Road. These buses travel from Elizabeth Quay bus station to Kalamunda bus station.
