It is located about 5 miles (8 kilometers) south of the town of Dubois, Wyoming. Whiskey Mountain is special because it is part of a protected area. This area is called the Whiskey Mountain Wilderness Study Area. It is a very important place for Bighorn sheep. Many bighorn sheep spend their winters here. In fact, it has the largest group of wintering bighorn sheep in the United States.
