The Whiteclay River is a river in Ontario, Canada. It flows through two areas: Cochrane District and Timiskaming District. This river is part of the larger James Bay drainage basin. It flows into the Black River.
Where the Whiteclay River Starts and Flows
The Whiteclay River begins at a place called Swan Lake. This lake is located in Maisonville Township in the Timiskaming District.
The River's Journey
From Swan Lake, the river flows east. It goes under Ontario Highway 11 and the Ontario Northland Railway (ONR) tracks. Then, it reaches Upper Twin Lake.
After Upper Twin Lake, the river turns north. It passes under the ONR tracks again. A smaller stream called Wolf Creek joins the Whiteclay River from the right. The river then enters Benoit Township in Cochrane District.
Where the River Ends
The Whiteclay River continues flowing north. It enters the town of Black River-Matheson. Here, it reaches its end, flowing into the Black River.
The Black River then flows into the Abitibi River. The Abitibi River later joins the Moose River. Finally, the Moose River empties into James Bay.
