The Vitis pseudoreticulata, also known as the wild Chinese grape or eastern Chinese grape, is a special type of plant. It is a liana, which means it's a woody vine that climbs up other plants or structures. This plant belongs to the grape family, just like the grapes you might eat!
This wild grape plant grows naturally in eastern China. You can find it in many provinces there, including Anhui, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, and Zhejiang. It likes to grow in places that are about 100–300 m (330–980 ft) above sea level.
The Vitis pseudoreticulata produces medium-sized grapes. These grapes are a pretty purplish-black color. What's really cool about this plant is how strong it is! It can resist damage from too much moisture. It also fights off common plant diseases like white rot, anthracnose, and Downy mildew. This makes it a very tough and resilient plant in its natural home.
