William Jack Poulter (born 28 January 1993) is an English actor. He became well-known for his roles in School of Comedy (2009) and as Eustace Scrubb in the adventure movie The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010). He also starred in the comedy film We're the Millers (2013). In 2014, he won the BAFTA Rising Star Award, which is a big award voted for by the public.

Will Poulter has been in many popular films. He played Gally in the first and third movies of The Maze Runner series (2014–2018). He also appeared in The Revenant (2015), Detroit (2017), the interactive film Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018), and the horror film Midsommar (2019). In 2021, he was nominated for an Primetime Emmy Award for his acting. In 2023, he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. He also had a role in the TV series The Bear, which earned him another Emmy nomination.

William Jack Poulter was born in Hammersmith, London, on 28 January 1993. His dad, Neil Poulter, is a professor who studies heart health. His mom, Caroline, used to be a nurse.

Will went to The Harrodian School, where other famous actors like Robert Pattinson also studied. He had some challenges in school because of dyslexia (which makes reading and writing harder) and developmental coordination disorder (which affects movement and coordination). But he discovered that he really loved drama, and it gave him a clear goal.

In 2012, Will started studying drama at the University of Bristol. However, he left after just one year because he got a big role in The Maze Runner movie. He decided to focus on acting full-time.

Starting Out in Acting (2007–2012)

Will Poulter began his acting journey in 2007, playing Lee Carter in the film Son of Rambow. He worked alongside Bill Milner in this movie. He then joined other young comedians in School of Comedy, which first aired in 2008 and became a full series in 2009.

In 2010, he took on the role of Eustace Scrubb in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. This movie was filmed in Australia, and some of his family went with him. He also appeared in a TV pilot called The Fades, a supernatural thriller.

In 2011, Will starred as Dean in the British film Wild Bill. This movie was directed by Dexter Fletcher and featured many talented British actors. Critics really liked Wild Bill, giving it a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Becoming a Mainstream Star (2013–Present)

In 2013, Will Poulter played Kenny in the comedy We're the Millers, starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis. He also appeared in a music video for the song "Skip to the Good Bit" by Rizzle Kicks.

In 2014, he played Fordy in the crime film Plastic. The same year, he got a major role as Gally in The Maze Runner, a film based on a popular book. Will said that this movie and his role in it were a "turning point" for his career.

He also starred in the Irish film Glassland in 2015.

Will Poulter received several awards in 2014. He won the BAFTA Rising Star Award, which is chosen by the public. He also won the MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance and the MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss (shared with his co-stars) for We're the Millers.

Will was originally going to play Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the It horror movies. However, he became unavailable, and Bill Skarsgård took on the role instead.

In 2018, Will Poulter returned as Gally in Maze Runner: The Death Cure, the final movie in the Maze Runner series. He also starred in The Little Stranger and played a game developer in Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, an interactive film where viewers make choices. In 2019, he was in the horror film Midsommar.

In 2021, Will played Billy Cutler, a sales representative, in the drama miniseries ...sick. His acting in this role earned him a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award in 2022.

In October 2021, it was announced that Will Poulter would play Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which came out in 2023. He also had a recurring role as Luca in the TV series The Bear in 2023 and 2024.

Other Activities

In September 2024, Will Poulter became an Ambassador for Alzheimer's Research UK, a charity that helps people with dementia.
